Human kind is collectively faced with an existential threat unlike any in our memory.
This presents us with a set of circumstances that are both overwhelming, and filled with possibility.
It is natural to be in a state of anxiety and fear as we cope with the tsunami of changes that we are facing.
This page will be dedicated to sharing stories, lessons, images, that call us to center our collective healing in the healing of our world.
The myth-poetic traditions are the rootstock of the Depth approach to psychological pain and the problems of living.
Working from a depth tradition, I incorporate story, poetry, image, symbol, ceremony, and ritual into the therapeutic work of healing the whole person.
While this approach is not for everyone, I have found it to be deeply powerful and portable. Because we can carry images, and stories with us, they continue to
work on us, if we let them; teaching us, like good friends. Like the Mother Tree, that has been with me so long, the images of nature, so familiar to us, are
essential to us. More than ever, we will heal, as we listen.
Sofia Jacob’s gorgeous and prophetic poem is good medicine.

Listen to the Virus by Sofia Jacob
Stop. Just stop.
It is no longer a request. It is a mandate.
We will help you.
We will bring the supersonic, high speed merry-go-round to a halt
We will stop
the planes
the trains
the schools
the malls
the meetings
the frenetic, furied rush of illusions and “obligations” that keep you from hearing our
single and shared beating heart,
the way we breathe together, in unison.
Our obligation is to each other,
As it has always been, even if, even though, you have forgotten.
We will interrupt this broadcast, the endless cacophonous broadcast of divisions and distractions,
to bring you this long-breaking news:
We are not well.
None of us; all of us are suffering.
Last year, the firestorms that scorched the lungs of the earth
did not give you pause.
Nor the typhoons in Africa,China, Japan.
Nor the fevered climates in Japan and India.
You have not been listening.
It is hard to listen when you are so busy all the time, hustling to uphold the comforts and conveniences that scaffold your lives.
But the foundation is giving way,
buckling under the weight of your needs and desires.
We will help you.
